I'm immensely proud of the video campaign I directed and produced to raise funds and create awareness about sex trafficking in America. It was a highly emotional project, as we dramatized real survivors to tell their heartbreaking stories—stories of women who were coerced, trafficked and abused by those whose only intent was to exploit them.
The goal of this campaign was to show how Magdalene House ATX can provide resources, hope, and assistance to survivors in their journey toward healing and rebuilding their lives. I wanted the audience to connect with the survivors on an emotional level, so that they could understand what it's really like for someone who has gone through such a traumatic experience.
To do this, we conducted extensive research into sex trafficking in America, as well as interviews with multiple survivors. We consulted with experts in the field for guidance and support throughout the entire process. We also worked together with local government officials, volunteers, and other non-profit organizations who seek to end modern-day slavery in all its forms.
We used a combination of documentary-style footage, still images, animation sequences, music scores and voiceovers from actresses, narrating the stories of real victims whose identities needed to be protected for safety reasons- creating an impactful narrative that conveyed the gravity of the message while leaving room for hope at the same time. In addition to raising awareness about sex trafficking in America, this video campaign also served as a call-to-action for viewers - prompting them towards taking action against these horrific crimes.
Finally, I invested a lot of time into ensuring that our production process adhered to ethical practices to ensure no further trauma or exploitation of any participants involved.
It was incredibly rewarding when we finally released our finished product after months of hard work and dedication from myself and my team — seeing people come together from all walks of life to fight against such an evil practice made me realize how much potential there is out there when it comes to making real change happen if we put our minds together towards creating positive outcomes for those affected by it – both directly and indirectly.
